If you have ever experienced that joyous moment upon opening the door to your home and being greeted by a little toasted marshmallow covered pup that can barely contain his happiness, then you understand that sense of loss when your buddy is no longer there.\u00a0We miss our Podey.\u00a0Sometimes, you know when you get it just right.\u00a0We met Gaspode aka Diamond aka Lucky, at one of the Adoption Days at Petsmart.\u00a0Gaspode picked us as much as we picked him.\u00a0From the very first day in our home, he knew his name and knew to which pack he belonged. There was never any question that he was ours or that we were his. We even thought about changing his name a few days later.\u00a0But, he’d accepted “Gaspode.”\u00a0 And, that was that.\u00a0Podey was a mixed breed.\u00a0\u00a0We were never really sure of his parentage.\u00a0But, we’re pretty certain that gazelle must’ve figured in there somewhere, as he could run like the wind. It was a thing of beauty to see him flying over the ground.\u00a0Like my previous Eskie, he was a gentle, loyal, and calm soul that loved everyone.\u00a0The dog with humorous ears, big rabbit feet, and down soft fur, stole our hearts and kept them safe for 15 years.<\/p>\n

Daisy came into my life by accident in fall 2006. I was driving home from a friend\u2019s house. I turned onto a side street and had to slow down for a police car on the side of the road with flashing lights. I glanced over as I passed by to see a woman holding a small white dog in the yard of a home. The dog had her head raised and looked at me as I drove by. Something about her stayed with me all night. I had been thinking about getting a dog so the next morning I called vets\u2019 offices. The second vet had her and said her name was Daisy. They were getting ready to put her to sleep because she had a broken leg and the owner no longer wanted to care for her. Her leg was broken in a way that she would have to be taken over an hour away to have surgery. I left work and picked her up and took her to have a pin put her in leg. Her owner signed her over to me and I took her home. She stayed by my side for almost 15 years. She was smart, loving and just all around special dog. I miss her so much and will never get over her not being here. \u00a0Daisy was very much loved by Fonzie and Keith. She will forever be remembered in our hearts. She is greatly missed.<\/p>\n

Sugar Bear and Fritzie were our fosters from STL Eskie Rescue, but this time they came from New Mexico. They were only staying with us in Denver for \u00a0a week before their Pilots and Paws flight took them to St. Louis. Well, that never happened. They were rescued May 2012 and both went to the bridge in 2020 and 2021 at 15 years old. They were pure joy and missed every single day. RIP girls. We loved you like you can\u2019t imagine. JACK rescued me in the fall of 2009 when he was just one year old. Such a kind and gentle old soul — he lived for love (and snacks). While he would ask anyone sitting next to him for pets by putting his nose under their arm and flicking it up to land on his back, he was my shadow for almost 13 years. I woke every morning to kisses — until cancer started eating away at his spine. Then the morning kisses became an indication that it would be a good day for him. Jack was the ultimate little trooper, battling the tumors for a year until his fragile spine gave way on February 17, 2022. Beautiful Jack brought us so much joy and left such an immense void upon leaving this world. We all, including my husband, Lyn, and Jack’s doggie sisters, Sammy and Winnie, miss him so very, very much. Fly high with the angels, my little love. Until we meet again. Our sweet, special Ziva.\u00a0 She was so gentle and loving, and always ready to cuddle.\u00a0 \u00a0Wherever Mom went, Ziva followed.\u00a0 She loved walks and car rides and just being with her family.\u00a0 Everyday we had her was a gift.\u00a0 From the start, at obedience school she didn\u2019t care about treats, only praise and pets.\u00a0 She was the only dog where the problem was getting her away from our side long enough to call her to come.\u00a0 Throughout her life, Ziva remained the loyal, gentle soul of the family, though she did find her bark!\u00a0 She won \u201cbest tail wag\u201d at a rescue reunion–not hard because Ziva was always happy.\u00a0 Her girl, Karen, just had to coo at her and her tail was wagging away.\u00a0 She is so very, very missed.\u00a0 There will never be another dog like Ziva.\u00a0 Adopted June 2, 2012, we said goodbye Feb 11, 2022.\u00a0The Rieffel Family<\/p>\n
